Family

I feel like I have been treated unfairly and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it.

-------
My sister and brother-in-law will be in town this weekend, then my mother next weekend, then I go to Florida for a wedding the weekend after that. I was a little annoyed when Mary, my sister, called on Monday and said that she and Nathan wanted to come this weekend because Nathan's friend Stephen and his wife, who also live in Austin, just had a baby. This happened just on the heels of my mother calling me to say that her friend Anne was coming in town to visit her daughter Lauren on September 6, so Mom thought she would just hop in the car with her and visit with us that weekend. Should I be annoyed that my family is coming to visit two weekends in a row before a weekend that I will be out of town. Plus, I'm catering tonight and Sunday night, so I'm just swamped with crap. Thank God Monday is a holiday!

creativity

I got back from Asheville Sunday around 5:00. Why is traveling such a freakin' beat down on the body? By the time I got home, unpacked, and showered, I was exhausted. And I didn't even wash clothes. I still haven't washed clothes. Our dirty clothes basket is in our closet and it's piled high full of a stack of clothes that comes up half the wall of the closet. Guess what I'm doing tonight? Anyway, we had a really great time in Asheville. It's a neat town with an eclectic mix of people living there. Angie is an artist and makes pottery for a living. Asheville is a haven for artists and suits her well. I admire her for being brave enough to branch out on her own and pursue her passion. Dog Door Studio is her pottery business and her stuff is awesome. She also has some stuff on Etsy with a few other artists. It's good that I have creative friends because I am so not creative.

I won't see my friends again this year and may not see them until our annual vacation in May. Nicki turns 30 in April, so I will probably truck it to New Orleans to see her then. I'm kind of sad, but not as sad as I have been in the past when I know I'm not going to see them for a while. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because I've just come to terms with it and have learned to enjoy the time I spend with them instead of focusing on the time I don't get to spend with them.

After four days of no yoga, the ass kicking began last night.

Action packed

To expand on my short but incredibly profound blog yesterday, if you haven't seen The Bourne Ultimatum, get thee to a theater quickly. It's unbelievable! I love the entire movie series, but this one is the best of the bunch. One of the things I love so much about the movies, other than the fact that I have been a sucker for Matt Damon ever since Good Will Hunting, is that The Bourne Identity wasn't a big box-office smash. It didn't really become popular until it came out on dvd. I think because a lot of people didn't buy Matt Damon as an action hero, but boy were they wrong. Jason Bourne is my favorite Matt Damon character and if they make a fourth installment, it can't be too soon.

-------
I'm headed off to Asheville, NC on Thursday to visit Angie. She's lived there for several years and I haven't been yet, so I'm due. We'll have a blast and I'm looking forward to seeing my girls for the third, and sadly, last time this year. Oh, how I wish we all lived in closer proximity to each other. I wonder how different my daily life would be if we all lived in the same city the way we once did. Then again, it makes these trips that much more special, so I still feel very lucky.

Word

Jason Bourne is a bad ass. 'Nuff said.
