DNC

Win or lose, Barack Obama gave one of the best speeches I've ever heard last night. When he walked out on stage and all 84,000 people, many of them in tears, were cheering their hearts out, I was so moved. That might sound cheesy, but it's true. It was really cool. The things that he has done throughout this campaign are nothing short of amazing. My favorite line of the night: "It's not because John McCain doesn't care; it's because John McCain doesn't get it."

Yet, McCain thinks that we will think he gets it simply because he chose a young woman as his vice presidential choice. On the surface, it is a smart choice. Now there's just one old white guy on the Republican ticket as opposed to two. She's cute and has an image that is appealing and I hear she's super likable. But once you get down to it, Palin is uber conservative with very, very little experience. It sort of defeats the Republicans' argument of theirs being the more experienced ticket.

Anyway, it is still an interesting race and I imagine it will be until the bitter end. I can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

Why are you here then?

I went to Mandy's arm balances and hip openers workshop at Yoga Yoga on Sunday. It was super packed, probably because Yoga Yoga offers this Beat the Heat special where you buy 20 classes for $199 and you get the month of August free, which includes workshops. This is not a beginner's workshop yet I'm certain there were beginners there. Mainly because every time Mandy would demonstrate or have someone demonstrate a pose we were about to do, people would say things like, "Wow!" or "Yeah, right." or "Sure, I can do that." Yes, she makes it look very easy, but she is also very good at teaching her students how to get into the pose in the first place. I wanted to ask some of these people why they were there if they were so sure they couldn't even try what she was proposing. It's a workshop on arm balances and hip openers. Plus there were a lot of friends in the room, so it was quite a noisy workshop. I was irritated.

And then I was irritated at myself for being irritated. There are so many people who have no idea about the benefits of yoga and all these people, even the beginners, were at least there to experience it. So who am I to think that these people shouldn't have come to the workshop? Exactly.
